Grandmaster Frank Trejo Seminar

 Saturday, October 14th & 15th, 2011

This was the first time that I, (Robert Beck) have had the honor to meet and be instructed by Grandmaster Frank Trejo.  I had heard that he was an amazing instructor and works great with people of all ages.  I was glad that my two young daughters, Madison, 8 and Miranda, 5 were also able to attend the seminar.  He worked with them just as he did with everyone else.  I have to say that I had a blast.  I learned a lot and the 3 hour class just flew by.  The class for some reason was small so we got more individual attention from Sifu Trejo.  I really feel sorry for those who did not come and missed this spectacular event.  There is some good news for those who missed however.  Grandmaster Trejo has committed himself to December 2nd and 3rd of this year.  He will be returning on those dates and I have already posted the new information on the webpage and the Dojo calendar.  I also added new pictures to the site including many from the Grandmaster Trejo seminar.

In regards to seminars, Sifu Z will be returning on November the 8th so make sure you are there.  Another great instructor, just ask anyone who has attended this remarkable man's classes.  As soon as I am given the information for the next Grandmaster Planas and Guru Planas seminar I will post it.  I believe they return sometime around March of 2012.  As you can see, Sifu Diaz does not mess around when it comes to planning and setting up quality instruction for his students and any others who may wish to attend.  All of these instructors mentioned are the best, THE BEST!!! in their field and that includes Sifu Diaz.  Come on down and check out the Dojo, this is karate at its finest.

The Planas Brothers Seminar was a fantastic event!  It has been a very long time since I was able to attend one of these but Wow!, what fun and just a great learning opportunity.  I watched the stick class with Guru Ed Planas at the helm.  The class had only 6 or 7 students but those students got extra attention for that reason.  Those who were not able or those who just did not come really missed out.  The quality of instruction and instructor is more than worth the price of admission.  I was able to get several photos and have posted them on the web page.  Check it out in the photos area of the page.

I did attend the second session of Grandmaster Richard "Huk" Planas' seminar.  We worked on a brown belt technique and then changed it up a bit.  Actually we changed it up a lot.  We started out the same but he had us incorporate various changes that allowed us to expand our knowledge of the original but see what could be done with it.  I was lucky enough to work with a second degree black belt who did not seem to mind he was working with a lower ranking individual.  In fact he was great and spent a lot of time helping me with the various changes that we worked on.  I had a great time and was very happy I was able to participate.  I will definitely be at the August seminar, check the website for details. For those who missed, well what can I say???  You snooze you looze!
